Hello everyone! To cap off the semester, me and two of my best friends went to Grain Spirits + Food to chat over some cocktails! They are located at 856 West Peachtree St NW, Atlanta, GA 30308 and keep in mind that they don’t take reservations. This was our first time at Grain and we went roughly at 11:30pm on a Monday night and the place was small, but had plenty of open seats! This was a great bar to catch up with friends and I could also see it being a cute place to get drinks after a date too. I liked the classy and dark ambience to the bar. My friends and I didn’t order any dishes (although we saw delicious looking cheese plates and oysters here) but we did try a few drinks so here is what we thought of them!
My friends Morgan and Katie ordered the Midtown Mule ($9) which contained new amsterdam vodka, dolin dry, lemon, pineapple, and ginger. Morgan said this drink was too pungent for her but I personally liked it when I tried a sip of hers. To me, the pineapple cancelled out an overly vodka taste! Katie said really liked it as well because the juices in it made it a little sweeter than a normal Moscow mule.
For me, I ordered the Hemingway cocktail ($9). I’ve tried to look up the details on this drink online but can’t find the exact ingredients (the Grain menu changes often). I believe this drink contained rum, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and a couple other of ingredients. It was too bitter for my taste so I found myself adding some lime and water to the cocktail. I would not get this drink again.
Although I wasn’t as enthusiastic as I wish I was about the drinks in this post, I personally think I would come back to this bar! It was a nice quaint place to try unique drinks and catch up with friends! The bartender was also extremely nice and I enjoyed speaking with him!
