Hey everyone! On Saturday, my friend Hannah & I went to Illegal Food in Virginia Highlands for the first time (she took most of the pics in this post- you can find her photography site here)! We had both heard of this restaurant a ton of times so we were excited to try it. Illegal Food is known for their burgers and brunch but they also have a ton of other great dishes to try out! Here is what we ordered for dinner:

Charred Corn– $7- I loveeee Mexican street corn and this spin on the dish was made with corn, lime, cheese, jalapenos, and cilantro. I couldn’t stop eating this one!

Sriracha Honey Fried Chicken Wings– $11- These had a great flavor and crunch! Really liked that these were sweet and salty.

Fall in Moscow– $9- I ordered this drink with my meal and it had a good ginger taste! However, it could’ve been improved in my opinion if it was in a copper mug rather than a somewhat cheesy mug and it was served a bit colder.

Fennel Pollen Porchetta+ Bourbon Smash Sweet Potatoes and Green Beans– $23- This was a super unique dish and it was soo filling (I ate the leftovers for dinner the next day!). I’m not a fan of fat in general so I cut the outside layer off but loved the flavor of the meat in the middle! The sweet potatoes also had a great taste (that didn’t have an overwhelming bourbon taste) and texture!

NYC Chopped Cheese (pictured above)– $10- This was a hoagie with ground steak, caramelized onions, and and melted cheese. Yum! This sandwich was so good and reminded me of a mix of a burger and a philly cheese steak! Hannah ordered it and I want to get it next time!

French Onion Dip Fries– $7.5- The sauce that came with these fries was delicious! It was made with home made sour cream and caramelized onions! Definitely recommend getting this side in addition to your meal!

Hannah and I had a great experience at Illegal Food! The staff was great, parking was easy (in the further lot), and the food was delicious! Be sure to check this place out!
