Hi everyone! Earlier this week, my friend Isabella and I went to DAS BBQ to try it out for the first time! It is located in Underwood Hills (north of west midtown) and is a great space with both indoor and outdoor seating (and live music sometimes too)! DAS BBQ has a lot of options on the menu and is a $$ restaurant (under $30)- it’s a little bit pricier than your hole-in-the-wall joint but you’re paying for some quality meats! Here is everything we tried below!
Pulled Pork Plate with Brunswick Stew & Elote Cream Corn (spicy)- $18- The price is steep but the food and flavors made it worth it to me! The portion was also big and I had plenty to take home! I enjoyed the ribs and how tender the meat was! The brunswick stew could’ve used double layers of containers underneath but taste-wise was great! I wasn’t even planning on finishing my Elote but loved it and it was gone before I knew it!
Pulled Pork Tacos with Collard Greens & Mac and Cheese– (top half of pic and next pic below)- First off just want to say Isabella and I appreciated that the tacos came on corn tortillas (our favorite!). The tacos in my opinion could’ve been spiced up with a few more ingredients such as onion or peppers (since they only contained pull pork, cilantro, and a salsa verde), but I will say that the salsa verde it came with was delicious! Isabella said that the simplicity of the tacos let the taste of the meat shine which was true. I loved the collard greens (note, this could’ve used a double layer of containers too) and the mac & cheese- thumbs up for this comfort food!
Sauces– DAS BBQ has their own sauces in their restaurant; one is a peach based sauce and the other is a red sauce that is “espresso powered”. They are both so awesome and go great over the pulled pork!
Beef Brisket– $9/$18- One of the managers Stephen (pictured above) told us that they cook the brisket for 15 hours! You could tell because the brisket’s flavor and quality was amazing. He let us go into the kitchen and he cut some brisket fresh from the slab that was so juicy and tender. I loved the rub that was on the edges of the brisket too. Definitely recommend ordering this!
Banana Pudding– This banana pudding had sweet cream on top of it and white chocolate pieces yummmm. This was seriously so good and you should order it!
Peach Cobbler– I loved every bite that had peaches, crust, and cinnamon. If you’re ever in need of a hug, this’ll do it!
DAS BBQ has smokers that they built themselves! They burn two types of wood for the smokiness in their meats which is delicious!
Pictured above is the takeout window!
DAS BBQ is located at 1203 Collier Rd. Definitely recommend checking it out! I can’t wait to go back and enjoy more BBQ (especially in the warm weather and on their patio)!
