One spot that my friend, Morgan, and I have been talking about going to for maybe a year now is Nikolai’s Roof on top of the Hilton Atlanta! So last week when they offered to host us, I of course said yes! Nikolai’s Roof is an upscale French-Russian restaurant on the 30th floor of the hotel with a bar and delicious food! It’d be a perfect place to take your parents or for a special occasion! They offer a seasonal menu as well as a Chef’s Nightly Special on Tuesday-Friday from 5:30-6:30pm with a 3 course meal at $44 per person! (FYI The prices I listed below by each item is if you are not doing the 3 course option.) Check out what we thought of the items we tried!
Cocktail
Paloma– (Pictured on the left) This was a fruity, tequila cocktail that was really great! Would recommend! (Pictured on the right is Johnny Walker Green)
Appetizers
Chilled Sweet Potato & Coconut Bisque- $16- The dish on the bottom of the pic above- Made with Jumbo Lump Crab, Red Peppers, Apple, and Red Curry Butter- We were a little nervous to try this since it was chilled but it was actually delicious! I loved the lumps of crab and the overall texture of this dish.
Scallops- $18– This appetizer had so much flavor and Morgan and I loved it! The mushrooms, sauce, and scallops blended so well together and I could probably eat 3 plates of this (lol).
Entrees
Magret Duck Breast- $37- Made with Parsnip Puree, Brussel Sprout Slaw, Crispy Shallot, and Tart Cherry Glaze- Morgan got the duck medium and it was cooked accordingly which was nice! This dish was good except that the tart cherry glaze overpowered the rest of the ingredients in my opinion. I think this could’ve used about 25% less of the glaze because the dish came out fruity overall.
Herb Crusted Lamb Chops- $41- Made with Farro, Mushroom & Arugula Croquette, Haricot Verts, and Lemon Demi Glace- I loved this entree! This was another dish that had so much flavor and was cooked perfectly. You can see the herb crust and it was delicious!
Desserts
White Chocolate Crème Brûlée- $13- The creme brulee’s texture and sugar on top were great but I was hoping to be more wow’ed by the taste. It is a good dessert but I preferred the next one below that we tried!
Bread Pudding– This dessert was my favorite. It was like a cinnamon hug! So warm and wonderful!
The side of the restaurant pictured above where people dine has a subtle view of the city lights but the best view in my opinion is the other side of the restaurant/ 30th floor with these views pictured below!
I hope you decide to try out Nikolai’s Roof! When I think of this place I think of a lot of flavor so I definitely will be back!
