Restaurant: Bone Garden Cantina

Hello everyone! If you love Mexican food as much as I do, you are going to love Bone Garden Cantina located at 1425 Ellsworth Industrial Blvd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318. It is a restaurant where “Day of the Dead decor meets a homestyle Mexican menu & margaritas”. My best friend, Mariana, is from Mexico City and she constantly raves about this restaurant and always says it has the most authentic Mexican food in Atlanta! We ended up going here with friends for my birthday and it was great! There is both indoor and outdoor seating at this restaurant and a giant parking lot. The first round of chips and salsa is free but you have to pay for additional rounds (the queso is great here if you want that in addition to the salsa). Check out some of the things we ordered:

What I ordered (counterclockwise):
  • Holy Chorizo Empanada-$3- stuffed with chorizo, Monterey jack cheese, & scallions
  • Rajas con Queso Tamales– $4- Corn masa filled with queso panela, peppers, onions, and salsa pasilla, onions, and salsa pasilla. Served with salsa verde
  • Puerco Azteca Tamale– $4.25- Corn masa filled with pork, red chile, garlic, and onion. Served with salsa verde.
These three items were all delicious and I would easily eat them again! They all had great flavor and the corn texture/ flavor from the tamales were great!

IMG_8937.jpgBirria Briskey– $12- This dish was made with “two slow-cooked beef brisket enchiladas topped with tomatillo sauce, chihuahua cheese, sour cream and queso fresco”. It was served with Spanish rice, refried black beans and a fresh salad. Guys.. this was so good that I finished the entire thing. The brisket and sauce flavor were outstanding and I also love that the side salad was topped with with ground pepper.
What my friend ordered:
Chile Picante Taco (left)- includes tender cooked chicken topped with spicy salsa and onion. Spicy but awesome!

What Mariana recommends:
– Rajas con queso tamales (shown above)
– Shrimp empanadas
– Jamaica tacos
– Cactus tacos esquites

Next time you & your friends are looking for a new restaurant to try, go to Bone Garden Cantina! It was so delicious & after making this post it is definitely the first restaurant on my list to go back to!
